Water Filtration - Swimming Pools

zeolite mineral in swimming pool filtration zeolite product life zeolite regeneration

ZeoSand ® - Filtration Media for Swimming Pools

Suitable for ALL commonly available pool sand filters. Simply replace all the sand with our zeolite product. Use the same volume not the same weight. It is important that the filter is filled to the same level. Due to density differences you should use three quarters the weight to acheive the same volume and level in the filter. We pack 15kg bags which are equivalent in volume to a 20kg bag of sand.

Salt Water Pools
As a particulate filter media zeolite works equally well in fresh water as salt water. From the perspective of ion exchange, removing nutrient contaminents, the fact that the pool is partly salt water does have a very small effect but compared with other factors such as the number of bathers or length of time the pump runs this effect can be considered to be negligeable. Filtering ability is no different.

Lifespan
Sand is often recommended to be replaced after 5 years because it wears down quickly and to remove the septic sludge at the bottom. Our product doesn't wear down quite so quickly and resists the formation of this sludge. You should get an extended life compared to sand, 5-10 years, but this depends upon how often it is used.

Regeneration

This removes all that chemical ammonia that has been collected from a year of filtration and usually once per year for the average household pool is adequate. For a 24 inch filter dissolve a 20kg bag of salt in warm water and add to a drained filter, top up with water to cover the zeolite completely. Leave to soak overnight, drain and rinse thoroughly. Combine with a general inspection.
