Local
councils and commercial springwater bottling plants require
efficient filtration and sanitation systems in their duty to
supply potable water to their clients.
Polishing Filter Media
Our
Zeolite products can be successfully employed to improve the
quality of that water in reducing the particulate load of the
final product.
Potable
Water
Water contamination whether the source be river, lake
or bore can be catagorised into four groups, some are safe
and some potentially very harmful. They can be removed to
varying degrees with an array of technologies.
Suspended clays & vegetable matter
The first and third groups are generally quite harmless,
they may affect the appearance, flavour and smell of the water
but do us no harm. A fixed deep bed of a suitable filter media
such as zeosand zeolite provides a simple, inexpensive and
effective means of continuous and ongoing removal of these
contaiminents. Employment of the 1-2mm product is recommended
for most applications.
Viruses,
Bacteria, Protazoa & Nematodes
Viruses and the like need to be killed either by boiling,
uv or chemical treatment.
Dissolved tannins & salts
Tannins are simply leached colourings and trees, add milk
and sugar and you have a kind of tea. These can be easily
removed by ultra fine filtration similar to that used to remove
suspended solids.
Organic & Inorganic industrial
chemicals
These are much more serious and although "activated"
carbon if used correctly can remove many of these volatile
organic compounds (VOC) if the water contains these you would
be wiser keeping well clear and find a new water supply.
