Questions & Answers

We get many questions about zeolite, filter media and the pool industry, often the answers are complex and involved so we have put together some "Zeolite Science" bulletins covering the most common issues. If you have a question which is not covered by any of these by all means drop us an email to mail@zeolitemineral.com

01 Particle Size Many customers want to know exactly how well Zeosand filters. Some people will give them a simple believable answer. The real truth is that there is no simple single number answer, if you get a single number answer its an out and out lie and here is why.
02 Hardness Many materials could be suitable as particulate media for deep bed filters, some are better than others and one of the important factors to consider is the hardness of the material since this has a direct impact on the working life of the media.
03 Ionisers Ancient Greeks discovered that storing water in silver jugs kept it from going sour and that algae didn't grow in copper pots so today we use the same principle to keep our swimming pools habitable by dissolving silver and copper into the water through electro-ionisation.
04 Density You use less zeolite than sand, how can this be true ? is it true ? Well the answer is simple, the answer is “yes” .... and “no !” Sure some zeolites are better but non of this impacts on the quantity to use. If you use less its simply down to density.

12 Pink Dust So you have discovered a pinky-red dust at the bottom of a client’s pool and the first thing you think is that its the same colour as the ZeoSand in the filter. So is the filter media falling apart and depositing in the pool ? No one else has it so it isn’t falling from the sky ... what is it ?
